The Grove Public Schools Information Technology Department is also know as the "tech" department. They are in charge of all computer problems such as broken computers, installing new computer hardware and installing computer software. This page should serve to help staff streamline communications between tech staff and other district employees.

  • What do I do if my computer or another technology issue is not working properly? 
    • If you are a teacher, open internet explorer and go to your favorites.  Open the Tech Folder which contanins a help desk to submit your problems.  Be sure to check back at the help desk to see what is being done to resolve the problem.
 
 
 

COMPUTER / NETWORK / INTERNET POLICY

 

  • Acceptable Use
    • Student access to Grove School District computers, networks, and Internet services is provided for administrative, educational, communication, and research purposes consistent with our values and mission to provide the best possible education. General rules and expectations for professional behavior and communication apply to the use of Grove School District computers, networks, and Internet services. The level of access that students have to school unit computers, networks, and Internet services is based upon specific needs. Students for school-related purposes and performance of job duties.
  • Prohibited Use
    • The student is responsible for his/her actions and activities involving school unit computers, networks, and Internet services and for his/her computer files, passwords, and accounts. General examples of unacceptable uses, which are expressly prohibited, include but are not limited to the following:
  1. Any use that is illegal or in violation of other board policies, including harassing, discriminatory or threatening communications and behavior, violating of copyright laws, exc.;
  2. Any use involving materials that are obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive;
  3. Any inappropriate communication with students or minors;
  4. Any use for private financial gain, or commercial, advertising or solicitation purposes;
  5. Any use as a forum for communicating by e-mail or any other medium with other users or outside parties to solicit, proselytize, advocate or communicate the views of an individual or non-school sponsored organization; to solicit membership in or support of any non-educational-related organization, weather for-profit or not-for-profit. No student shall knowingly provide school e-mail addresses to outside parties whose intent is to communicate with school students, students, and/or their families for not-school purposes. Students who are uncertain as to weather particular activities are acceptable should seek further guidance from the principal/supervisor;
  6.  Any communication that represents personal views as those of the Grove School District or that could be misinterpreted as such;
  7. Downloading or loading software or applications without permission from the system administrator;
  8. Opening or forwarding any e-mail attachments from unknown sources and/or that may contain viruses;
  9. Sending mass e-mails to school users or outside parties for school or non-school purposes without the permission of the system administrator or principal;
  10. Any malicious use or disruption of computer, networks, and Internet services or breach of security features;
  11. Any misuse of damage to computer equipment;
  12. Misuse of the computer passwords or accounts (student or other user) ;
  13. Any communications that are in violation of generally accepted rules of network etiquette and/or professional conduct;
  14. Any attempt to access unauthorized sites. (by any deliberate means to bypass the school filtering system this includes any form of proxy or pay to surf sites, exc.)
  15. Failing to report a known breach of computer security to the system administrator;
  16. Using school computers, networks, and Internet services after such access has been denied or revoked;
  17. Any attempt to delete, erase or otherwise conceal any information stored on a computer that violates these rules.
  18. Using the district web pages to provide personal information or provide access to personal pages on site servers, district servers, other servers, or online services.
  19. Any violation of Grove School District web site use and development policy.
  20. Using home e-mail accounts at school.
  21. Modifying in any way the district’s hardware or software.
  22. Accessing chat rooms or social networking sites of any kind and giving out personal information of any kind.
  23. Trying to break the security of the system of bypass safeguards put in place by the school district.
  24. If you have pictures of students on the internet you MUST NOT display any names.
  25. Downloading large files from the internet without the permission of the system administrator. This includes but not limited to streaming video and streaming music.

Any violation of this policy will result in discipline action being taken in conjunctions with the district’s discipline policy. These actions include, but are not limited to detention, ISI, and suspension.

Students who wish or are required to use GPS District Computers must agree to these rules and have their parents or guardian sign this GPS Student Computer and Internet Use Agreement Form and return it to the building office.
