My philosophy-
As a Pre-K Teacher, it is my responsibility to meet all the educational needs of each child who enters my classroom, to provide excellent learning opportunities, and promote life-long learning.
Each child deserves to learn and I feel that every child can learn if helped in the right way. It is my goal to be the best teacher I can be and provide a well rounded learning experience that will promote personal, social, intellectual and physical growth to all of my students.

My Mission Statement-
My mission as a Pre-K Teacher is to provide excellent hands-on learning experiences that will fulfill the needs of all children. I will provide a positive learning experience for each child that walks through my classroom door. I will have a smile and good attitude each time I am teaching and around my class. I hope to be the best role model I possibly can for my school, students, and self. I wish to inspire each child and promote life long values and morals in them that they need to succeed in life. I will provide and spend time to help each child be successful in all aspects. I will be a loving and supporting teacher to all of my students.

Class Rules-
Treat others as you would want to be treated.
Respect your school staff and property.
Take care of yourself.
Be a role model for other students.
Be on your best behavior.
Be the best that you can be in and out of the classroom.

Give Me Five-
My hands are still.
I am quiet.
I am listening.
My eyes are on the speaker.
My hands are in my lap or my table is clean/clear/quiet.

Daisy Flower Discipline- Your child has a happy daisy flower posted in the room. Green is Awesome Behavior, Yellow is a Warning that behavior needs to be corrected, and Red is a Time-out/Note home/possibility of letting principal know situation depending on what happened. We love awesome behavior, but understand that everyone makes mistakes. If you can't make a mistake you can't make anything. A smile goes a mile!

Class Motto's to Live By-
Honesty is the best policy.
Cheaters never win.
Always, always give your best.

Quotes that are very meaningful to me-
"All children are gifted, they just open their presents at different times." Anonymous
A teacher affects eternity; no one can tell where his influence stops. Henry Adams
To teach is to learn. Japanese Proverb
Who dares to teach must never cease to learn. John Cotton Dana

About Myself- My name is Stephanie Thomas and I am proud to be your child's 1st teacher. It is a wonderful opportunity that I love. If I didn't love teaching, I would not be a teacher. I grew up 12 miles east of Miami with my parents Jack and Janice Wood and my brother Chris who is 5 years older than me. I went to Wyandotte up until 7th grade and then went to Miami until I graduated High School. I was very involved in Cheerleading, Honor Roll, and Honor Society. Cheering for football is a Passion!!!!

I went on to try-out and make the Pitt State Co-Ed cheer squad right out of High School, but ended up staying at N.E.O. A&M college on a cheer scholarship that was more. I graduated and then went to P.S.U. where I earned my bachelor's in Elementary Education with a Minor in Early Childhood. I was also very fortunate to have an Indian Scholarship through the Wyandotte Tribe besides my cheer scholarship. I am certified in Kansas and well as Oklahoma to teach.

I married my high school sweetheart after 6 1/2 years of dating when I finished my college degree. We have one beautiful daughter who is a blessing in our lives. We are so very proud of her and her accomplishments since she is in school this year.
Family and Friends are very important to me. I am very blessed to have my family be such a great part of my life and my friends old and new that have been very important to me also just as much as my family. It is nice to have great family members and great friends.

I have lost 3 important people in my life that has made a huge impact on my life starting while I was in college and ending in teaching, my Grandma Wood, my best friend Kassie Sigle, and my Dad (Jack) in my second year of teaching. Life should be lived day by day and make it the best. Life is short, always smile and always know your are blessed!

Things to Know about Our Class- Your child needs to bring their Communication Folder Daily in their backpack and turn in to the folder box. Show-N-Tell is on Wednesday every week, a set of extra clothes needs to be kept in your child's cubby in a zip lock bag, nap blankets, etc. come home on Fridays to be washed and then back on Monday, a weekly newsletter comes home on Monday each week, reading logs are in your child's folder, Daily schedule came home at the beginning of year, snack calendar comes home before the next month, you are welcome at anytime to come and have fun!!! We appreciate all of our parents.

Reading is the foundation for excellence. I hope you will put forth the effort to read daily to your child, ask them about their day, spend quality time with them, etc. Children grow up so fast and you are your child's 1st teacher at home. Teachers/Parents have to work together to make each child's education the best it can be.

My Assistant is Mrs. Tabatha Gowens. I am blessed to have her in my class. I appreciate her so very much! She is wonderful.

My goals for my students- To learn as much as they can learn, have fun, smile, enjoy coming to school, know their letters, numbers, shapes, colors, months of the year, days of the week, the state they live in, the town, the capital of Oklahoma, fun songs, color songs, and possibly letter sounds/pre-reading skills. Sharing and Caring are important also. Character Counts is important to know and remember for being a great role model.

Have a great Day and Remember you are important to someone!!!!
