Introduction:

Why am I at Grove HS?  The answer in a nutshell is because I enjoy the profanity, fighting, backtalk, and constant motivation problems with the 140 students I have in class on a given day.  Ha ha ha ha – no really.  I love teaching.  It’s strange that it took 29 years and a degree in advertising to realize that I was passionate about teaching, specifically English.  My mom always told me that I would most likely end up doing something in my life that I never dreamed of.  Turns out she was right about fatty foods making me gain weight and that.  But in the end, even on a frustrating day trying to keep seniors reading and writing or speech kids memorizing, it’s all completely worth it.  The students are invaluable, and I love each & every one of them.  My goal for the year?  Learn every student’s name in this school by heart and let them know at least once that Mr. Pierce cares about and believes in them, no matter where they are.

Mr. Pierce's Speech and Drama Class

Education:

Graduate of UCO with a degree in advertising.  Why?  I have no idea.

Career History:

Advertising sales at The Daily Oklahoman fresh out of college.  Moved on to bigger and better bank telling at First National Bank of Grove.  Stayed for 5 years and moved up to Head of Operations before realizing how much I was missing out on not being a teacher.  Took over Senior English at Grove HS and haven’t looked back (except for that one time when someone yelled my name).

Family:

Most beautiful wife in the world: Brandi Pierce

Most beautiful kids in the world: Adlee, Canaan, and Malachi

English 12; Speech/Drama

Skills:

How to stay strong in the middle of 30 seniors talking and asking questions at the same time, and how to be authoritative when most students outweigh me by at least 50 lbs.

Teaching Method:

Anything I can find that motivates students (and is legal and morally acceptable, of course)

Class Rules:

In short, no slacking, whining, cursing, sleeping, texting, making messes, backtalking, fighting, late papers, drooling, dress code violations, drooling over dress code violations, and drinking pop without sharing.
