- About your education
- I have two bachelor’s degrees, one in communications and one in Business (Meetings and Destination Management) and a Masters in Education Administration.
- About Your Career History
- I did a lot of different things before I entered education. One of the neatest things that I was a part of was the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, which is the largest in water boat show in the world. I entered teaching seven years ago when I returned to live in Oklahoma and I earned my Masters Degree in Education in 2006.
- About Your Family
- My Husband and I have three daughters who all attend Grove Schools
- About your position and why you enjoy doing what you do
- I love teaching computers and math at Grove. The math is interesting because it is so challenging teaching a course like math, and the computer classes are fun because you get to watch the students really tap into their creativity, especially in the advanced computer classes.
- About the classes that you teach
- I teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Word/PowerPoint, Excel/Publisher, Photoshop and Cinematography (Senior Slide Show). I am very happy to be teaching the Senior Slide Show because I was a member of the class that produced the very first Senior Slide Show in Grove (many, many years ago!)
- Skills that will be learned in your classes
- In Math, students will learn the skills that will be needed to continue to more advanced math classes required for graduation. In computers, the students will learn skills that will be necessary so succeed in the business world and other skills that are just really fun and cool, like how to manipulate photographs and make videos.
- Teaching method (lecture, video, use of materials etc. . .)
- My math classes are mostly lecture and bookwork. My computer classes are instruction at the beginning of each chapter and the students are turned loose on the computer to work through the chapter at a self pace. All work for a chapter must be completed by a given time.
- Class rules
- Basic rules for all classes are bring what you need for class, stay in your seat, quietly pay attention and be respectful of others. Each class is given a more detailed list which include:
- Math
- When the tardy bell rings you must be in your assigned seat or you will be counted tardy. If you are in a seat when the bell rings other than your assigned seat your will be counted absent
- During lecture and explanation of the chapters, if you are not asking me a question there is no reason for you to be talking. I expet all students to pay attention in class, take notes and participate.
- If you are having trouble understanding a concept or need further clarification on something ASK ME!!! I do not want anyone to fail a test because they were afraid to ask a question. Learning is a two way process between the teacher and the student and I need your assistance to know that I am explaining things clearly.
- You will need a pencil each day for class; make sure to bring one. I will have calculators available for students when neccessary but they must remain in the classroom. All assignments turned in must have all the "rough" edges removed or it will not be accepted.
- I will allow each student to learn to their preferred learning style so long as the student is maintaining or increasing their grade and does not disturb others. This includes, but is not limited to,studyingin groups(quietly), sitting on the floor or any other method that is cleared by me.
- Chapter work is due at various times before the chapter test. I will collect assignments at random so always have your work with you. Only students with excused absences will be allowed to make up assignments, quizzes, and tests.
- CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. A zero will be given and further disciplinary action will be taken. Any incident of cheating where a student claims they did not cheat will be turned over to Mrs. Dozier for a final decision.
- Destruction of property including books, tables, chairs, etc. will not be tolerated. This includes writing in books, etc., and any damage resulting from horseplay. Students will be responsible for replacing lost or destroyed items.
- Stay in your seat until the bell rings and you are dismissed.
- You have 5 bathroom breaks per semester. Use them wisely.
- Computers
- Students are not allowed on the internet for any reason without permission
- Students are not allowed to print for any reason without permission
- No games unless you have an A in the class
