About Me

I came to Grove almost by accident.  I just happened to be browsing a principal web site and noticed that there was an opening at the high school. I submitted my information, had the interview and was offered the job 48 hours later.  I knew when I met with Superintendent Steen and Principal Dozier that this was a place at which I really wanted to work.  As a band director for 14 years, I had always known about the music programs here in Grove and knew Mr.Wilhelm for several years.  Just in meeting and knowing these people, I knew I wanted to be here in Grove and hoped that I would get the opportunity to work with them and the members of the community.

  • My Education
    • After graduating Central High School ( Tulsa, OK) in 1984, I attended OSU Stillwater for 3 years.  Due to a constant change in the music faculty, I felt I needed to find another institution of higher education to complete my degree.  I moved to Edmond, OK and attended Central State University which I now called the University of Central Oklahoma.  I began my Master of Music Education degree in May of 1989 and began my Music Education degree in July, 1990 when I began my administrative career.  I felt it necessary to go back to school to get the degree that went with the administrative certificate.  I completed the Master of Education in school Administration degree at Northeastern State University in July of 2006.
  • My Career
    • I began my teaching in August of 1990 in Pawnee, Oklahoma where I remained for 5 years.  In 1995 I was presented with an opportunity to teach at Coffeyville Community College where I remained for 5 years.  In 2000, I returned to my native Tulsa and joined Tulsa Public Schools as the High School Band director at Will Rogers High School.  At the end of the 2004 school year, I was blessed with the chance to begin my administrative career as a discipline dean at Clinton Middle School. the following year when funds were tight, my position was eliminated and I was able to join the staff at Whitney Middle School, where I served for 2 years as the discipline dean for grades 8 and 6 respectfully.
  • My Family
    • In June 2008, I will celebrate my 23rd wedding anniversray.  I have four daughters: Kaylee 16, Taylor 13, Allison 9 and Brittany 8.  I do have a son that will turn 25 in June.
  • Grove High School
    • I enjoy working with this staff.  They bring new ideas into their classrooms everyday and are very easy with wich to work with.  I enjoy getting to watch the students as they work hard in class.  I truly enjoy the students here. There is a tremendous amount of respect that these students exude daily.  Don't get me wrong, there are some incidents that I am not happy about, but I work diligently to ensure that each moment, good or bad, is an opportunity for learning to occur.
  • Skills that will my class:
    • Although it is not a class, I want my students to learn that there is always an alternative way of dealing with each and every situation. Bad decisions carry consequences.

I hope every parent feels comfortable enough to call if they have questions or concerns.  We as a school need to work in concert to facilitate the best possible learning environment and outcomes for all of our students
