Welcome to my Classroom

Dear Parents/Guardian:

My name is Lee Ann Holt, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to my 2 nd grade classroom. I hope that you had a happy and safe summer vacation. I am looking forward to a very busy and exciting 2007-2008 school year.

Education is very important to children and I really want them to be in a positive learining environment. I will be working with your children this year to help them develop the academic and social skill necessary for second grade and beyond. As a parent, you are one of the most important factors in your child’s education. During the year some of the things that you can do to help your child are:

  • talk to your child about their academic and social activities at school.
  • Be positive and supportive. Encourage your child to always do his/her best.
  • Listen to your child read orally every single night. Ask compregensive questions about the story.
  • Help your child to memorize math facts.
  • Help your child study his/her spelling words. We will have a test at the end of every week.

As a class, each student will have a number assigned to them. This will help both the students and myself in managing homework, attendance, etc. There will be a Math homework sheet every night., as well as Reading. Please make sure they get back to school completed. Please go through your child’s bag and look at their papers. It means a lot to them to have praise at home as well as at school. I am also asking that parents DO NOT come into my classroom during the day without going through the office. Every interruption gets the children off-task, and it is very hard to get it back in a timely manner. I appreciate every one of you and your cooperation.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. The school number is 786-5573. Leave a message and I will get in touch with you as soon as I can. I will also be in contact with you through notes and phone calls if needed. Let’s make this school year the best ever.

Please read over my class rules and discipline plan summary and discuss it with your son/daughter. Please sign and return the forms I have enclosed. Please send back all enrollment/emergency forms and the free/reduced lunch application (even if you think you are not eligible) ASAP. These papers are very important.
