My name is Lisa Lovelady. I am a native Grove Ridgerunner. I
married my high school sweetheart, Steve Lovelady. We have two
children, Emily who attends Pittsburgh State University and Kyle,
who is currently a freshman at Grove High School.
I completed 13 years of school and received my high school diploma
from Grove High School in 1983. I continued my education in Miami,
Oklahoma where I attended NEO A&M for one and a half year.
I then transferred to NSU, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where I received
my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in May of 1987. In 1995,
I received a Masters Degree in Education.
In 1998, I received my first teaching position with Grove Public
Schools as a first grade teacher. 20 years later…I continue
to teach first grade!
First grade continues to be my passion. Six-year-old children
come to school with such a willingness and eagerness to learn.
One of the greatest joys in teaching is helping to develop all
of my students reading skills. Learning to read is the single
most important feat of all students. Teaching students to read
is the single most important feat for any teacher. Teaching students
to read is the single most important feat for any teacher. Teaching
students to read is what I LOVE TO DO.
90% of the students I receive come to my classroom as non-readers.
The same 90% leave my classroom reading at or above the second
grade level. Watching these children learn to love reading makes
my job so enjoyable. Seeing the looks of amazement and excitement
on the children’s faces when they pass their first reading
test exhilarates me.
