Welcome to the Grove Early Childhood Center! We are glad that you have expressed an interest in our school. We currently serve 350 four and five year old students that attend a full day Pre Kindergarten or Kindergarten Program. Our students arrive daily by school bus or family transportation and enjoy a free school breakfast together. It is important to us that all children start their day off with a nutritious meal. Throughout the day our students attend a variety of learning experiences that include music, art, physical education, library, counseling and computer science. Of course, no school day would be complete without two fun filled recesses!
Instilling a love for learning, emphasizing creativity, literacy and mathematical reasoning, and providing a context for healthy interactions among children and adults are equally important goals of our early childhood curriculum. We believe that small children learn best in classrooms that support active learning experiences and play.
Our students should:
- Look forward to school!
- Actively engage with learning materials
- Acquire academic skills through center activities
- Display their original artwork and have many opportunities to be creative and self-expressive
- Communicate with their peers through a variety of group settings
- Connect basic skills in reading and math with everyday life experiences through cooking, exploring the natural world, field trips, and classroom responsibilities
- Utilize emergent literacy skills such as oral language, phonemic awareness, alphabet recognition, and beginning print on a consistent basis
- Play outside (weather permitting) every day
- Experience a curriculum that builds on their individual strengths and is customized to their specific learning needs
The Grove Early Childhood Center is committed to involving volunteers in our students’ educational experiences. Please let us know of ways that you can help be a positive influence at our school. We have volunteer opportunities in the classrooms, projects to work on at home and in other areas.
