I would like to welcome everyone back to another exciting year at Grove High School. We have a lot of changes in the building this year, including changes in the handbook. So, please take some time to look over the handbook to learn what has changed. I have just a few reminders that I would like to share with the students and parents:

  1. Please do your best to have your student in attendance everyday, I also know that there are times that it is impossible to do, in order to help with their attendance there are a few things that parents can do to help. The parent can send a note with the child upon their return to school, or by calling 918-786-2207 and leaving a message with me so that I can make a note in Inow explaining the absence.
  2. If your child is absent due to a doctor appointment…etc., have them get documentation while there to bring to school when they return, also, remember that if they are absent for appointments the documentation is to be turned in to me within 48 hours of  said visit.
  3. When filling out the student information packets please make sure you list only people that you want to check your child out and make sure there is at least one that can do this during our time of  “parent signature check outs only”, between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM there MUST be an adult signature in order to check out a student that is not of majority age (18). There will be no exceptions this year, so please take this in to consideration when renewing information in the student packet this year.
  4. One of the changes this year will be access to the building from the back door of the building (Student parking entrance). At 8:20 AM the doors will be locked, any student arriving after that time will not be allowed to enter there, they will have to walk around the building to come in the front entrance of the building, so they need to make sure they arrive on time everyday. Also, just so there is no questions about parking, the front parking area is for Teachers and Visitors only, the students are not allowed to park there regardless of any situation.
  5. Also remember we have two different types of tardies, 1. tardy to 1st hour- according to the hand book there is only one (1) excused tardy a semester, all other tardies will be unexcused whether a parent calls in for the student or not, however, there are times when these tardies can not be avoided, I will use common sense in determining whether it will be excused or unexcused. 2. The second type of tardy is between class tardies (2nd – 7th) hour, there will be no excused tardies for these unless a student has a note from a teacher, counselor, etc., if a student is tardy to class during this time they will receive a lunch detention. There is enough time allotted for the student to use the restroom and go to their locker and get to class on time, they are in the building so there is no excuse for being late to class without a note which must be brought to me in order for the student to get into class.
  6. One of the big changes this year is the back entrance being locked throughout the day, If you need to pick your child up this year you will have to use the front entrance (teacher parking area) only. If you arrive at the student parking entrance you will not be allowed access to the building, you will be asked to drive around the building in order to use the front door. This is being done in part to ensure the safety of the students and unnecessary people in the building. We do hope you understand and apologize for any inconvenience.
