The rewards I have received through teaching are numerous but the most important one that comes immediately to mind are the students. Teachers are so lucky to be included in a small part of a child’s like, and watching that child grow into a successful individual is the greatest reward. I have lived in this community for 31 years and I have now had the experience of have the children of my former students. That is the best! I am lucky to be a part of a career where you see your students evolve. They become good people and make great families. Many are still in Grove making a difference for our community. The ones who have left the area are making their mark as well. It always makes your proud to see how well your students have done and the good people that have become. Every student touches my life in a different way and that is the greatest reward.

There are many changed that could be made in education that would be beneficial, but I think that one that comes to mind immediately is teaching to the test. I agree that fundamentals and test scores are important but not to the point that we lose sight of the individual child and their needs.
