Over 900 students participated in an essay contest from 44 U.S. states and 12 different countries. The students were asked to watch a video about the Oklahoma City bombing and think about why the event is important today. Winning entries were selected by a panel of 22 judges for their unique voice, thoughtful analysis, and consideration of the relevance of the topic in the past and present. This year one of our very own from Mrs.Guthridge’s class won 1st place in the 9th and 10th grade category!!!! Congratulations to Jennifer Hiatt!!!!

The day before spring break the Upper Elementary entered into a prehistoric time known as the Rise of the Ridgysaurus! Our halls were transformed into a prehistoric era and our classrooms were filled with dinosaur themed lessons. At GUE one of our core values is to make learning and teaching FUN for our students and staff. A huge thanks to all of the moms who volunteered to decorate our halls, particularly Vanessa Byers and Abbey Fink who spearheaded the entire project! Also a shout out to Mrs. Teel and 6th grade leadership class for making tons of vines. The decorations will remain up through our book fair next week!

Mrs. Mark's 3rd grade learned about democracy on Super Tuesday. Students experienced how to register to vote and the voting process. This fit in perfectly with citizenship and what that means at their age. #glebettertogether #ridgerunnernation
