GHS Seniors and Parents: Here is the link to the live stream for graduation tonight. https://vcloud.hudl.com/broadcast/embed/2402115 The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 is scheduled to begin at 7 pm on Friday, May 23rd, at Ridgerunner Stadium. As we all know, the weather can be unpredictable during this time of year. If there is concerning weather for 7 pm that night, we are planning to handle it just like we would an outdoor sporting event. If we need to postpone for safety, we will do so according to the rules set forth by the OSSAA. Graduation will continue through light rain if that is all there is. The ceremony will proceed as soon as it is safe to do so in accordance with the rules set forth for outdoor events. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

What an incredible way to wrap up the year at the Upper Elementary House Assembly! Today, we celebrated our outgoing house leaders and welcomed the new house leaders, who were carefully chosen through an interview process. A huge shoutout to all houses for a fiercely competitive year. The race for the Geffe House Cup was closer than ever, but in the end, Altruismo emerged as our Geffe House Cup Champion, earning the most house points for 2024-2025! We are so proud of everyone’s hard work, teamwork, and spirit. #Leadership #GeffeHouseCup #AltruismoChampions

After state testing is over our teachers feel free to get more creative with their teaching strategies. This month, Mrs. Nelson's 5th grade science classes have been demonstrating their knowledge of different scientific principles by creating stop motion videos using Legos. They build different scenes that would show the sequence of events during an action. Taking pictures of each scene they put them together to form a video showing the completed action. Projects like these not only allow students to show their understanding of scientific principles, but also allow students to hone their problem solving and teamwork skills, allow for student creativity and introduce them to a new skill some may turn into a hobby or future career.

Chromebook Collection Information GMS will collect Chromebooks and chargers on Tuesday during 7th hour for 8th graders who are exempt from semester tests on Wednesday and Thursday. For those 8th graders who are not exempt, they should turn in their Chromebooks and chargers throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday as they finish their tests. These devices are being collected because students will receive new Chromebooks when they start as freshmen in high school. Any 8th grader who does not return their Chromebook will need to pay a replacement fee at the start of the school year to get a new device in high school. Seventh graders do not need to return their devices.

Last week, Alternative Education and WINGS Academies went on a tour of the Pensacola Dam in Langley, OK. The students learned about the Depression-era labor that built the Pensacola Dam. The students walked along the mile-long dam as it stretches from Langley to Disney, across the Grand River Valley. They even witnessed a bat nestled in a crack in the concrete walkway. The tour guide discussed the ecology conservation efforts made by GRDA, Grand River Dam Authority, and the tourism of the Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, a 46,500 surface-acre lake that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Once in the powerhouse, they learned about how the generators work to produce electricity. After lunch, they participated in a small group activity that focused on clean water sustainability.
