Carrying on with the shout outs for National School Counselor's Week we would like to recognize Mrs. Erin Wall and Mrs. Debi Robbins, along with Mrs. Alaina Hilliard (not pictured) who all serve our students at GUE! We are so blessed with these ladies who do everything from guidance lessons to crisis intervention to academic counseling. We ❤️ our counselors!!
Mrs. Goin's' third grade class won the January Third Grade Reading Challenge at the Lower Elementary. As a class, they read over 950,000 words in January! To celebrate, Dairy Queen surprised the kids with free ice cream cones AND coupons for mini blizzards when they read six more books each. Colonial Day Fun! 📜☕️
5th grade students had a blast at Colonial Day, experiencing life as early settlers. From playing jacks to crafting corn husk dolls, making butter, digging up the past, trying their hand at quill writing, to brewing tea, it was a day filled with hands-on learning and excitement!

Mrs. Guthridge’s seniors participated in the Masonic Charity Foundation essay contest-here are the results for the local division. We are so proud of these outstanding students! Elliot Geer’s essay moved on to the state level and she got 6th place out of 747 essays. She won $400! Hard work pays off!
The fashion design students used scrap fabric to make fabric marble mazes for the ECC. They made a little over 20 mazes.

Parents of current GMS 8th Graders: Students who will be 9th graders this Fall, 2024, will have a mandatory Pre-Enrollment at the PAC on February 8th, 2024 from 6-7.

On January 19th Sheila Stogsdill came to visit Mrs. Thomas's Journalism classes at GMS. Ms. Stogsdill is a professional Journalist, and she talked to the students about her career; she is also a GPS school board member. She presented a video on a cold case about the missing Welch girls. This was a case in which she did extensive investigative journalism. She also talked to the students about the inverted pyramid style of writing.
