Tuesday, April 29, and Thursday, May 1, 8th graders will be visiting NEO A &M College as part of our GEAR UP Grant. Each day, students will leave the middle school at 9 a.m. and will return at approximately 1:30. Lunch will be provided. On Tuesday, students in the following homerooms will make their visit: Teel, Barnhart, Cowen, Geer, Trumbull, Terry, Benge and Marshall. On Thursday, students in the remaining homerooms will make their visit: Crouch, Deason, Lepo, Parton, Dozier, Floyd. All 8th grade band students and 8th grade track athletes who will be attending the conference track meet on Thursdsy will attend on Tuesday, regardless of homeroom. If students have appointments during this time and need to be picked up, they will stay behind on GMS campus. Geography students @ GMS explored natural disasters, including tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, typhoons, and earthquakes. Given popsicle sticks and various adhesives like Elmer's glue, hot glue, and tape, students designed and constructed buildings to withstand these disasters, demonstrating exceptional critical thinking skills and teamwork.

Our 4th grade classes made the most of last week’s beautiful weather! Students took their science lessons outdoors, exploring, experimenting, and learning in the sunshine. There’s nothing better than combining sunshine with hands-on learning!
If you’ve ever walked through the doors at the Upper Elementary, you know Teresa Rockers and Sunni Porter. These two are the ones who keep everyone organized, answer every question (even the weird ones), and somehow manage to stay calm and smiling through it all. Today is Administrative Professionals Day, and we have to give a huge shoutout to "Rockers and Sunni"—the rockstars who truly run the Upper.

GMS is lending a helping hand to our local pet rescue. Middle School Student Council is sponsoring a dog food and cat food drive for Second Chance Pet Rescue. Please bring donations to Grove Middle. Mrs. Woods and her leadership team will deliver all your donations to our grateful furry friends.
Our sixth grade leadership class recently hosted a Change War among the four houses at Upper Elementary, raising an amazing $251.89 for the Grove Food Pantry. Today, Ayla Crowder and Lylah Morrison proudly delivered the check to food pantry director Pat Dalke. We’re so proud of our young leaders for making a difference in our community—way to go, Ridgerunners!

Ms. Hornback’s 4th grade students are getting creative as they prepare for testing! Last week, they took their learning outside and used chalk to write the “12 Mighty Words” and their meanings. These powerful words—like analyze (break apart), infer (read between the lines), and summarize (give the short version)—help students tackle tricky test questions with confidence. Way to make test prep fun!
