Art in the Park. Forty one 1st and 2nd graders saved enough Ridgy tickets to enjoy a trip to Lendonwood Gardens. Thank you to Kelly Claggett for helping to supply some of the sketch books and pencils. Group two will go Monday.

Last week, Alternative Education and WINGS Academies went on a tour of the Pensacola Dam in Langley, OK. The students learned about the Depression-era labor that built the Pensacola Dam. The students walked along the mile-long dam as it stretches from Langley to Disney, across the Grand River Valley. They even witnessed a bat nestled in a crack in the concrete walkway. The tour guide discussed the ecology conservation efforts made by GRDA, Grand River Dam Authority, and the tourism of the Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, a 46,500 surface-acre lake that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Once in the powerhouse, they learned about how the generators work to produce electricity. After lunch, they participated in a small group activity that focused on clean water sustainability.

GMS Semester Tests will be next week on Wednesday, May 21, and Thursday, May 22. GMS students will find out their exemption status on Monday during Homeroom. If they are exempt in any classes, they will bring home a signed note from their homeroom teacher. The exemption policy can be found on page 6 of the student handbook or on the school website.
SEMESTER TEST EXEMPTION POLICY (student handbook p. 6):
Semester tests will be given at the end of each semester. The policy states that students will be exempt from taking semester tests if they meet the following criteria in a class:
Grade Absences
A 3 or fewer
B 2 or fewer
C 1 or fewer
All students with a grade of D or F must take semester tests. School activity absences are the only absences that do not count against the student, or disqualify them from a semester test exemption. Students who enter the district after the first nine weeks of the semester do not qualify for exemptions.

Musicals, Ukuleles and Recorders, Oh My!!! It was a fun night at the PAC last week when our 6th grade Musical Theater students put on their show "Off Their Rockers," our 5th Grade Ukulele Club members showed off their stuff ,and our 4th Graders played their recorders! The 6th grade students were also invited to perform at Grandwood this week.
Congrats to our music teacher Lauren Thompson for some amazing performances!

Second grade Spring Concert was a hit! Mrs. Brodrick worked tirelessly to prepare the students for this spectacular event.

GMS Drama Department invites you to their performance, Who Killed the King of Bling. You will have two opportunities to enjoy our talented group of middle school actors with the show taking place on Thursday night and Friday night, May 16 & 17, @ 7 p.m. at the GMS Auditorium. A big thank you to GEFFE and The Oklahoma Arts Council for grants supporting our students and this production.

5th and 6th grade gifted and talented students were treated to a day trip to OKC to visit the Oklahoma State Capitol and the OKC Bombing Memorial. The students received a tour of the grounds of the Bombing Memorial and went on a walking tour of the inside of the State Capitol. While there they shared lunch with State Representative Josh West and he even recognized them from the Floor of the House as they sat in the Gallery. A big shout out to GATE Teacher Deana Glasgow for arranging the trip and Becky Shelley who accompanied the group. Also thanks to Tosha Sherman who jumped in last minute to drive our students on this important trip.

GHS Seniors and Parents: The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 is scheduled to begin at 7 pm on Friday, May 23rd, at Ridgerunner Stadium.
As we all know, the weather can be unpredictable during this time of year. If there is concerning weather for 7 pm that night, we are planning to handle it just like we would an outdoor sporting event. If we need to postpone for safety, we will do so according to the rules set forth by the OSSAA. Graduation will continue through light rain if that is all there is. The ceremony will proceed as soon as it is safe to do so in accordance with the rules set forth for outdoor events.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Congratulations to Beonka Williams!!! Accepted to Tulsa Welding School! Well done Seniors!!! Keep the good news coming!!!
