Due to continuing inclement weather Grove Public Schools will remain in distance learning for Tuesday, January 16th, and Wednesday, January 17th. Grades PK-3 had instructional packets sent home last week. Grades 4th-12th need to log in to their Google Classrooms and complete work to be counted as present.

Ridgerunner Nation,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and engagement in your child's education. Your participation is crucial, especially during these challenging times, and it truly makes a difference.
I wanted to reach out and provide some important updates regarding our plans in light of the possibility of frigid temperatures, snow, and ice in the coming days.
When it is unsafe to hold face-to-face learning, GPS has a couple of options. The first is a true “snow day” where there are no learning expectations for the day. We only have a few of these days built into our calendar. Once we use these days, any additional days taken will be added to our existing calendar.
The second option is a distance learning model. Even though we are not physically together in the classroom, learning expectations are still in place. Students must participate and complete their assignments to receive attendance credit.
As a precautionary measure, instructional paper packets have been sent home for students in grades PK - 3rd. These only need to be used if we enter a time of distance learning in the coming days. Students in grades 4th - 12th each have Chromebooks and will use Google Classroom for instruction. Please encourage your child to complete the assigned tasks on time as this impacts not only your student’s grades but also determines their attendance during distance learning.
We understand that distance learning isn’t the preference for any of us, however, it does allow instruction to continue during bad weather and ensures we would not have to make up these days at a later time.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding instruction for Jan. 12th or any day next week. Information on closures will be sent out using our school messaging system, the GPS website (ridgerunners.net), and our social media platforms.
Warm regards,
Pat Dodson- Superintendent
